The number of bolts holding that thing in are unreal...
There are (IIRC) 3 bolts at the front of each fender that hold the top nose piece
in place. I swapped over a set of nice rust-free fenders this summer, and was
amazed by what holds those things in. Toyota never intended that those fenders
come off accidentally, that's for certain.
Since these bolts hold the fenders to the nose, perhaps it was more to ensure that
the nose piece doesn't come off instead. (I now have only 1 bolt holding it in
place at each fender.)
Come to think of it, it may be 1 bolt and 1 nut holding the nose piece, and another
bolt way up inside there that holds it to the frame again. It was a while ago, and
I was more concerned with other issues at the time.
