[Supras] Oil Filter Relocation - Purpose?

Ok, I know there has been a lot of talk about this lately and I don't
 mean to continue it.....but I just wanted to know.  What is the purpose
 of the relocation?  Is it just for easy of access?
I understand it can a pia to get to in the stock location but I'm used
