This may be common knowledge, but for people looking for a solution to the lower stock intercooler piping (particularly eliminating the cast aluminum bend) then the following part from Speed-Source is worth considering.

Jeff, Jon:

    Thanks for the replies.

Jeff: I've been looking at Spearco intercoolers as a next step
after working out the hardpipe hose retention method. Found a way to
solder copper wire rings on Mandrelbends tubing which I'll cover in a
separate post. Your were the one who suggested not going larger than
2-1/4" so that is the size I'm working with, the 45 degree elbow
underneath first. Nonetheless, a mass flow meter measures mass flow,
and all other factors being equal, A/F ratio should stay constant.

Jon: A certain amount of sensitivity to coolant temperature makes
sense. A few successive runs through second gear on up makes the
mixture lean out from about 9.5:1 to just short of 11:1 (average).
However, I would think that just the opposite should occur if Toyota's
thinking indicated that red hot exhaust valve heads and spark plug
insulators (well, maybe less hot for the insulators) would invite
pre-ignition, possibly showing up as increased coolant temperature.

As always, comments would be appreciated.

          Bernie
