[Supras] AFM (hot wire type)

Code 31 is a short or open in the AFM circuit. It is almost always a wiring problem as that part of the harness gets very brittle from the exhaust heat. If you have a multimeter you can diagnose this quick by unplugging the engine harness at the ECU and AFM and checking for continuity.

Your bad intercooler hose will not trigger code 31. It will cause a so-called boost leak and will make the engine run rich under boost, and if bad enough can trigger a code 32 (fuel cut).

Code 71 is most likely another wiring problem. I would check for an open circuit in the sensor wiring to ECU.

That is the problem.?

I have a new EGR and a new EGR temp sensor in.?

As for the AFM, I have not done anything yet.

I was wondering if a leak between the turbo outlet into the intercooler
may be the problem.? I know the rubber pipe needs to be changed.? I
have ordered hardpipes to replace all the pipes and will try that before
 anything else I guess.

Code 31 and 71 should be easy to deal with.

71 especially. That is the EGR temp sensor. I assume you have an EGR
 with
a temp sensor, it is usually unplugged since it is hard to reach.

If you happen to have an EGR without a temp sensor, a resistor added to
 the
harness will satisfy the ECU and erase the code.

If you have NO EGR, then you probably won't pass :)

Code 31, AFM, what have you done there?
