[Supras] Tire recomendation

Bernie, I run the old Potenza Pole Positon (S03) model for street and
track which has now been replaced by the RE050 and the even more sticky
RE01-R. The S03 has been a great tire, needs some heat to really start
gripping, especially as compared to the Falken Azenis I use for auto-x.
If you're plannnig on driving in weather like that (near freezing) I'd
stay away from the Extreme/Summer (RE01-R) tire with any precipitation.
As for the Bridgestones, I've put 11 auto-xes (some with 12+ runs) and
14 track sessions on them and still have 3-4/16" tread left. Ok, only
~3500 miles but there are some hard earned miles in there:) Not bad wear
for a tire that offers pretty good traction. The Azenis are about the
same tread depth with 12 auto-xes and no track sessions so you can see
they are even softer.

Jeff:

Thanks for the response. I should have stated that the tires on the

car are RE750's. Interestingly the RE750's are not rated that much
differently than the RE050A's:

RE050A: Cornering: 9.1. Dry traction: 9.2. Steering response: 9.1.
RE750: Cornering: 8.6. Dry traction: 8.9. Steering response: 8.7.

Maybe the ratings are not really indicative of how the tires feel
and behave in practice. Tonight before writing, I took my favorite
drive in the coldest weather we have had here in the Northeast (maybe
28F to 30F earlier tonight). In September weather when I first got the
car running with the refreshed engine it was not that much different,
though, although WOT bursts were kept to a minimum until I had about 400

miles on the engine (just about now).

Any ideas about the influence of temperature would be appreciated.

    Bernie
