Yes, this is also true on the NA fuel pump.

I'm running a 1989NA fuel pump with the resistor and switch connected to a 7M-GTE 
computer now.  It works exactly as it should, since the switch is ECU controlled.

I am planning to replace the fuel pump with a Walbro 255lph pump, at which time I will 
bypass the fuel pump resistor.
