I love how these threads get turned around....
I really don't have a problem with my cooling system. I was just trying to
help someone else.
There have been a lot of good ideas tossed out there but since none of us
are there we really can't fix it for Derrick.
It could be nearly anything under the hood but usually simple things break
and most times it is an easy fix.
I had 7 techs working for me at one time or another and I can't count how
many times they would tell me that something major was broken before they
even looked at the basics
With the right equipment every part could be tested but just go through the
archives and you will see many instances where minor problems were thought
to be a BHG. His cooling problem could be...
Minor Coolant Leak
Radiator Cap
Thermostat
Bad Coolant
Radiator
Fan or Fan Clutch
Water Pump
Flow Restriction
BHG
Now I may have missed something but the biggest issues are there. Start
with the cheapest and simplest fix and move on. Any one of these could be
the problem and maybe one is more likely than the others but instead of
coming up with strange potential problems we should sit back and wait for
Derrick to do some testing and come back with his solution.
If he can prove most or all of these parts are fine then we have something
to discuss.

BTW, I have seen every one of these things cause overheating, some are just
more likely than others.
