Well, only having experience with one Supra purchase thus far I can
say one of two things:
1. I got a really good deal at $2400 for a rust free '87T (replaced
turbo, exhaust manifold, and valve cover gaskets/hardware soon after
purchase for less than an additional $250). Body had 189k when I
purchased it and had one minor accident that had been fixed before I
ever saw the car. I would not have known except for a paint line and
the previous owner was up front about it. Unknown engine mileage and
drivetrain mileage (transmission has orange gasket maker at different
spots peaking through). Pretty sure the previous owner tried to drift
and ragged on the poor car. Rear set of tires were bald and one extra
wheel had a nice chunk taken out of it where it looked like it hit a
curb. Oil was like syrup, I doubt it had ever been changed.
OR
2. I got a really horrible deal and should have paid less.
HOWEVER
I'm happy with the amount I paid for the car since very little needed
to be replaced to get it on the road and I've had numerous compliments
about its rust-free status here in Michigan (originally a Virginia car
so that helped).
Cheers,
Mike, 87T
