What you say makes sense.
Seems kinda smart when at first it seemed kinda dumb.

  They screwed up on head bolt torque..thats it.

  Consider that smaller passges move a given volume of water faster than larger ones, that will cool MORE than water moving slower in a superheated environment..if you let it move slower, it will flash easier..and that will greatly overheat things. 

  And thats just the beginning of why things MIGHT be like they are.
