I just finished my spring fix up list for my 91 turbo - wnated to thank
everyone who contributed with advise and support.
Rich - I think you should see if you can get your write-up on changing the
rear struts into the tech-tips on the web site. The rears were a piece of
cake (non-tms) and I would have been really upset if I had paid the $300 in
labor for someone else to do it. If you do get it added to the tech tips you
should warn everyone that they're probably going to need to order the
bumpers - took me 2 weeks to get them from Champion. When the bumpers came I
had to re-do the first strut because I put the new one in with the old
bumper (didn't know I needed it and I needed the car). With the knowledge
gained from the first strut I was able to changed both of the backs in under
an hour. Thanks!
I also did front rotors, pads and 1 caliper - piece of cake. Anyone who is
reasonably good at turning a wrench and has a big enough breaker bar to
tighten the bolts down should consider doing it themself if they need them.
The rotors were $38 each, the pads were ~$20 a pair (with shim kits) and the
one caliper was $38. I'm sure there are better prices to be had but even at
these prices I saved about $200 for about 90 minutes work.
Next up - clutch master and slave cylinders.
Thanks agin for the help and support.
Jeff
