[Supras] mystery knock

The one time it clattered it did sound like a diesel rattling. Seems the mystery knock is more noticeable in colder weather. I parked
outside last night and started cold at 60 degrees f this morning and
barely noticed it.

Seems like you might be describing a clatter from excessive tolerance when cold (I believe certain wirst pins can cause this but you said OEM) Does it sound like a Diesel firing up? Diesels run very high compression and a lot of heat. Due to this the pistons expand more so they must be toleranced accordingly to allow for this expansion when warm/hot. Race engines can do the same depending on the required piston clearance (different brands/mat'l makeup)
