I'm no A/C technician, but I do have a section 609 EPA license so I know a little on the matter. Any A/C technician these days owns a halogen leak detector, which is a handheld electronic sniffer that can detect minute quantities of leaking freon. You run it along the a/c lines and it will beep when it detects a leak. If you system is leaking under the dash they should be able to get a reading by getting the leak detector either under the dash near the evap, or near the interior and exterior vents, especially if its dumping the whole charge in 4 hours! I suggest you go to a shop that specializes in A/C repair.

James, I've been having AC woes with my 92T as well. Although I can't help
you with your problem, I can however sympathize and let you know what mine
is. My ac died about 2 years ago and I never bothered to fix it. Now, I've
been asking the list questions and weighing my options. I agree with Harley
about the dealers. I'm surprised that the dealer would tell you they don't
have a manual for such an old car.
I think you're getting screwed by them saying "it must be leaking under the
dash". That's not a sure fix. They should know for SURE if there's a leak
in the system by doing a vacuum check. I don't know how that's done but I
imaging that they can apply vacuum and check for a leak.
I've decided to skip the dealer on my 92T and have a local mechanic (that i
trust) do a conversion to r134a. I'm sure I have a leak somewhere in the
system because I checked the high pressure valve and there's no pressure in
there.
My advise for you is to go the conversion way.
Good luck and please let me know how it turns out. I'll let you know how
mine turns out.
