DOT5 silicone fluid?
Not a smart idea.
Some components do not work well with it, but thats rare.
The real problem is, that yes..it isnt hygroscopic like normal fluid
so it can keep for a long time, but it is much lighter than normal
fluid.
Unless your system/lines are all fresh, you -will- end up with pockets
of traditional brake fluid, complete with its 5-10% moisture content
sitting in the low spots of your system, corroding and deterioriating
lines, seals, pistons...it has to be flushed out powerfully to clean
out properly.
Thats why you dont mix silicone based brake fluids, with traditional fluids.
Silicone fluid is also much more compressable than normal stuff, pedal
will be spongier overall.
So if your car HAD traditional glycol/etc brake fluid, and you
switched, you didnt improve anything performance wise, and youve now
hidden future failures under the disguise of "longer lasting fluid"
that youre less likely to flush and maintain as one should.
Specific uses for silicone hydr. fluid is usually reserved for long
lifetime designs where servicibility is an issue.
Also, many race specific fluids such as Motul RBF600 affer an
extremely high dry boiling point, but they degrade under heat quickly,
and -must- be flushed at a regular rate, such as a few ounces per
caliper at least after every race weekend. As opposed to Motul5.1
which can be used in your car for long periods and still offer a nice
boiling temp.
