Sounds like your starter contacts are getting worn down. Or the starter solenoid is on its way out too. If you replace the contacts and still have the same problem (like I did), you can add in a Mustang starter solenoid. That worked for me.

My problem is that sometimes I turn the key in the ignition and all I get is a click. It just started doing this a few weeks ago.
If I play with it for a while it usually starts, but for how long.
