HEY!!!!
*I* was a Used Car Salesman!!
And, to boot, we sold "Salvage Title" Cars.
The guy before me would wait until you were about to sing the papers, and
then tell you it was a Salvage Title (of course, after you got financing,
cash, etc...)
I would hand the prospective sucke...er, buyer the keys, and give them a
good 10 mile ride to go on, and then when they came back I would open the
hood, door, trunk, etc and say, By The Way, this car was hit here and here,
and here's what we did.
More often than not, I made the sale, because the owner and his other
employees did good work.
I had a girl come in, about 22, with a 1 year old baby, drooling all over
this Nissan 200SX I had. I took her over to an Escort with 29,000 miles that
had been flooded (we cleaned it and gutted it and sprayed it with oil to
drive the water out). She was disappointed, but I looked at her and said,
This is NOT the car for you!
Two days later an 18 YO high school kid came in looking for something. Can
you spin a wrench? A little? Have I got the car for you!
Seen him driving the 200 SX just the other day! Still going. Much to my
amazement!!!
I talked as many people OUT of buying certain cars as the cars I sold.
