Hmmm...there is a guy in the Newsgroup alt.autos.toyota that used to be
a Factory Rep for Toyota. He could either answer this or point you in
the right direction.
In the case of a VIN, the middle *letter* in the VIN is the model year;
I believe Tiyota also uses this for thier engines.
Google is a good place to go. I know there is an MR2 site that lists
engine years for the MR2, and I believe Toyota keeps their model number
schemes even across the board, so that may be a good place to start!
