I had a similar problem with the power door locks being sluggish. I pulled the door panel off and lubed all the moving parts of the locking mechanism with lithium grease. The problem was immediately resolved. After 17+ years the factory grease has pretty much gone.

---------------------
On my 89 NA Supra, the driver's side door key way/lock on the door
itself has always been shut, meaning, I cannot stick the key into the
lock. To me it's never really been a big deal as I just use the
passenger side and unlock both doors.
Occasionally, and usually when it's cold, the locking of both doors by
way of the passenger door lock will lock the passenger side and NOT the
driver's side, the switch on the inside of the driver's door is making
the click noise and moving over to the right a bit, but not enough to
actually lock the door. And I'd like for security reasons, to be able
to have both doors lock.
What fixes for this are there? Will any locks from 87-92 work on this?
Do I just swap in a new/used set, get them rebuilt? I still have the
factory alarm working and I'd like to keep that working as well. Do I
need to lube the locks? WD-40?, something else?
I don't really mind the key way door/lock on the driver's side not
working, I just want to get both doors to lock when I activate the
passenger side.
Any help/advice on this would be great!
Thanks,
Tom
