[Supras] 89' Door lock problems

Tom,

I've had a few key locks out of my 91T. It sounds like the drivers side is
getting stiff from not being used. Even the electric locks move the back
lever on the tumbler, iirc.

I'd get in the door, remove the lock cylinder and soak it in wd40 for a
while, moving the workings back and forth to free it. Then, lube and work
all the stuff still in the door until it moves freely. You're probably not
at the point of having to get a new / used set yet.

At least, *I'd* try getting it working first. Oh, and take digital pics
often, so you can get it back together correctly again.

No back hatch key cylinder b/c I was tired of fixing it all the time!!

Subject: [Supras] 89' Door lock problems

On my 89 NA Supra, the driver's side door key way/lock on the door itself
has always been shut, meaning, I cannot stick the key into the lock. To me
it's never really been a big deal as I just use the passenger side and
unlock both doors.

Occasionally, and usually when it's cold, the locking of both doors by way
of the passenger door lock will lock the passenger side and NOT the driver's
side, the switch on the inside of the driver's door is making the click
noise and moving over to the right a bit, but not enough to actually lock
the door. And I'd like for security reasons, to be able to have both doors
lock.

What fixes for this are there? Will any locks from 87-92 work on this?
Do I just swap in a new/used set, get them rebuilt? I still have the factory
alarm working and I'd like to keep that working as well. Do I need to lube
the locks? WD-40?, something else?

I don't really mind the key way door/lock on the driver's side not working,
I just want to get both doors to lock when I activate the passenger side.

Any help/advice on this would be great!

Thanks,

Tom
