Thanks Dave!

yeah I just wanted to make sure i wasn't taking on something I was probably
going to regret doing. Since I've never actually changed the rack & pinio
myself , I'm going to follow the manual & TRSM & hope for the best! I
figure I'll give myself all day since my garage is a 1 car garage & I'll
probably be half on the side walk, but what the hell. . .  .

Secondly, I spoke w/ the parts dept @ Auto Zone & local crappy toyota
dealer. . . .

Hi Hugo,
    The dealer should be more than happy to sell you one lug stud by
itself!!  Who told you you couldn't buy just one?!?!

And yes, you can swap out the rack & pinion on jack stands.  I recently did
it myself.  Just make sure you chock your tires and have the front high
enough to work under there.  Same with the other stuff.  Most of us have
done all this ourselves in our own garages!!  You can do it too.  Just have
your repair manual handy and have lots of patience!!

Hey all!

Just have a few issues:

1.) I need to know if anyone has any extra 12mm by 1.5 lug studs they'd
like to sell, I was told that I could not purchase them seperately from
dealer &/or aftermarket shop.

2.) Due to unforeseen circumstances (mom's in the icu), I don't have any
dough to fork up in order to replace the rack & pinion. Therefore, what are
the probabilities that the feat could be accomplished by myself w/the car
jacked up & on 2 ton jack stands?

3) Same as above, only rear brakes, calipers & brake lines?
