[Supras] [SOGI-TECH] brakes smoking??

I'm thinking of the hub grease and the wheel bearings. These pads are
fairly old (4 years) for that kind of abuse but I wouldn't think pads
would smoke. I was wondering if there was something else I should look
into.
Thanks Matt,
Brian

I haven't seen brakes smoke after laps at the track, but I have seen
them smoke at the end of one of my favorite sections of hilly/curvy
county road. It was not in my Supra BTW, it was a modded Contour SVT
(coilovers, etc). The pads were just Axxis Metal Masters. The owner of
the car had told me beforehand how great they were. I changed his mind.
:)
You shouldn't have to worry about the grease because you use high temp
caliper grease on the caliper slides. :)

Has anyone seen smoke from brakes shortly after some laps at the track?
I was down at VIR on the smaller course for a time trial the weekend and
after about 6 laps I noticed some faint smoke from under the hood.
(These were single laps with ~ 3 mins. between each, not hot laps) I
left the grid and opened the hood to see faint smoke from the DS front
fender well. It smelled like brake pad but I can't imagine them smoking.
I didn't notice much fade but tire pressure had risen from 42-49 psi
within 2 laps so they were very hot as well. Maybe it was the paint
burning from the calipers but if so this concerns me that the
bearings/grease will overheat at these temps and cause other problems. I
was holding the brakes a little long (vs. hard braking) on the end of
the straight (chicane before corner and I don't have competition tires)
so I'm sure there was a little more heat than normal. Didn't notice
anything leaking although I did install speed bleeders recently. Any
ideas what this could have been from? The 2.5 hr. drive back was fine
and everything was normal.
Thanks,
