PS to former posting about detail on Ford "black death":  Bob:  Did not realize that the Ford accumlator (probably with built-in filtering) is downstream of the evaporator.  Seems like a stupid idea IMHO, but it must have been done for a reason.  All other systems I've seen have the filter-dryer (accumulator) upstrream of the expansion valve to catch foreign material from the compressor.

Never had occasion to cut open a Ford filter-dryer, but
I'd be curious as to why the crud was not caught by it and wound up in the
orifice tube instead.
