Engine mounts shouldn't be a problem, since the 4M-E is the same block, after all.  The 
oil pan will be different, but you may be able to get away with using the 4M oil pan, and 
just altering the oil pickup.

The transmission will be more problematic.  You WILL need to fabricate a custom mount for 
the transmission.  Since both the R154 and W58 are the same distance from the rear engine 
mount to the shifter location, it *should* fit, as I believe that the Mk1 also used the 
W58, though I could be wrong there.

You may need to relocate some of the stuff under the hood, there may not be room for the 
coil packs under the hood of the Mk1 in the stock location.  These could be relocated, as 
several members have done so.

There should also be room for the turbo, but the last time I looked under the hood of a 
Mk1, I seem to recall there being some larger plumbing in there for the heat/AC system.  
This may require some attention.

Wiring *will* be difficult, since the Mk1's chassis electrical is even more different than 
the Mk2's system.  Some of the work will be similar, but some will take some new 
creativity.

As far as speedo goes, you'll have to figure that out once it's all together.  You'll 
probably have to use much of the Mk3 instrumentation, as the tach is likely to be 
different enough as to be inconvertable.  Also many of the other engine instruments will 
be too different to convert.
