I would bet there is excess play in an arm or bearing if the tires can be ruled out.

Troubleshooting..perhaps not..no..but generally speaking tires and
pressures are so misunderstood...

But im guessing he has one wheel with either or a combination of more
camber than the other side..more toe +/- than the other side.

As the rear end squats, that geometry difference will magnify and
dog-leg the car.

Tires operate differently new from old..not even considering one brand
to another in what they will feed back to the driver when things like
that come up.

Ive got my $1 bettin on alignment.
