That's what my gasket did as well.  And no, it didn't fail the block test.

Thanks to all that have given replies.  I have been driving this car for 6
years and it is acting very different than it ever did.  I will run the
block test today , I think it will come out negative.  I have had a gasket
fail in another supra just as described in this reply.  There was never a
positive block test, just occasionally it ran hot and a little different.
Turned out the ring on the 6th cylinder had expanded and pulled into the
cylinder.  The coolant is holding steady, but if I start the car and run it
just a minute or so and then open the radiator cap there is pressure which
seems a little unusual to me.  I discovered that by accident this week.  For
some of the other replied the radiator cap is toyota and new.  I have not
had the waterfall in the heater system.  It just heats up under stress and
immediately cools down when I take the stress off, as in idle.  I believe if
I pull the head I will find the 6th cylinder ring is messed up and the rest
will be fine.

These gaskets have been known to weaken, and the way they do so is by the
crimped metal insert sround each bore radially receding between the head and
the block, due to combusion pressure.. The metal rings become elongated
along the head and block surface. Someone in the list showed a picture of
that a few months ago.
