I take this to mean that you believe that 95% of cars built actually do come
with factory and/or engineering defects.  If this is correct, I respectfully
disagree.

I never had any problems at all with the mk2.  It had no design flaws and
ran well.  On the mk3, the head gasket issue is a known fact.  You suggested
that people shouldn't "buy in" to the head gasket problem.  Toyota
themselves did "buy in" to it, there was a service bulletin issued.

has major problems that require a revision of the factory specs.
