If the rubber cups are in good shape, a couple of strokes on the brake pedal should restore it. I had the same thing happen after installing new pads, with partial bleeding of the system. Apparently movement of the cups in the master cylinder cleaned off whatever crud had deposited, and the brakes worked fine. That was 50K miles ago. No problems since wiith the brakes.

PSIf you change it, you do not need to use the bleed fitttings. Assuming you have brake fluid in the disconnected master cylinder lines, bench bleed the cylinder by tubing to route the discharged fluid back to the cylinder reserviours , and pump the pushrod until the bubbles disappear. At that point it should be a bolt-in.
