LOL, I expected that!
It DOES suck! Used to be so much fun to meet new people and see their cars.
These cars are just too damned cheap these days and I said that 7 years ago.
Every new owner I meet is enthusiastic about their car, but they're young,
ignorant and broke. None of which lends itself to attending a meet in
another country.
Alot of the new owners DO have their shit together. They are respectful of
longtime owners, candid about their car's problems and wanting to be TAUGHT
how to fix the problems. Note: I put taught in caps, because the one's that
want it done for them for free (and they're out there) get ZERO respect from
me. We've got some local guys that truly have the fire. Young, but their
attitude is great and they respect their cars and oldtimer's knowledge.
They're just not loaded with cash. Hence, they won't make the meet, but in
future years as they develop their professional life and their car they
will.
All is not lost, but this is a transition time IMHO. These cars REALLY HAVE
gotten too cheap. Let everything settle for a couple years and the true
enthusiasist's will once again rise to the top.
