[Supras] Starter

This may seem a silly question, but I am trying to remove and test the 
starter in my 87 NA, and cannot figure out how to get at the top bolt.  
Is there a trick?  It seems to be in a place at the top of the tranny 
housing that I cannot get to unless I pull the engine forward a bit.  
What am I missing?

I seem to have messed something up with the power.  I did a bunch of 
work, and now I don't get much of anything when I turn the key.  I have 
to make sure it is not just the starter.
