I've heard folks mention Tokicos going bad prematurely when coupled with
shorter springs, since they weren't really designed for this. How about
Koni? I don't know if they were designed with the stock spring in mind
or a shorter "performance" spring. I mention performance in captions
because most folks may not be aware that the majority of aftermarket
springs for the mk3 are actually softer than stock.
Here's the info I've found from other sources: (ranged rates are
progressive)
Stock (F/R) 461 : 215
Eibach 343-628 : 126-257
GAB 307-475 : 146-218
H&R 575 max : 285 max
Intrax 700 max : 220 max
RSR-R 671 : 335
RSR-S 503 : 262
S.T. 442 : 147-175
Tanabe 442 max : 207 max
Tokico 395 : 198
TRD 670 max : 280 max
The RSR sounds like they may be a good option, I believe the Tokicos are
operating out of their range now, so I'd like to try something more
suited for auto-x/track use. Can't afford a good coilover this year due
to other 'necessity' parts.
