Yes, I have had throttle-happy young guys 'get' the car to fail due to them getting into the throttle too much to keep up with the test computer's instructions.  This might sound sexist and coincidental, but I have never had a test fail with a female operator.  They tend to be more relaxed on the throttle with a smoother transition during the speed cycling.

      The test you describe sounds like a recipe for disaster with a turbo car, because of the richness under boost getting up to 60 MPH.  Is the amount of throttle used a function of operator discretion?
