[Supras] Power Steering Pressure Gauge

Hi Bob,
Sorry for getting back to you so late, I've been unable to check my email for some time. I decided to trouble shoot this problem by starting with inexpensive stuff first, which is the PS pump. I got a remanufactured one from NAPA for $139 (with core exchange) and I also got a new high pressure hose. The steering rack that I have is the one with PPS. If the power steering is still lacking after replacing the PS pump+ High Pressure hose, then I will have to send the steering rack to be rebuilt (unfortunately, no one stocks remanufactured ones anymore!). The rebuild would cost about $400. A new Toyota one from Jeff would be $850.

I heard your story after the fact. I have been out of town….

I would certainly look into a sued solenoid… If the members of this list haven’t heard of this failure then it must no be common and used should be fine

 Hi Bob,
I called Jeff at Champion Toyota and he quoted me about $270. It won't break my back to buy a new pump, but I have a feeling its not a pump problem, especially since its not making grinding noise.

How expensive is the pump and can you get on from a big box that will allow
returns?

I mentioned this to another friend in the repair business and he doubts that
any of the shops in town (39,000 people) have one.

I never used one in 13 years....

Hi!
I am trying to trouble shoot the lack of power steering on my 90T. The
TSRM has a procedure to check the fluid pressure, which requires a pressure
gauge with a valve (test 1 with valve closed, test 2 with valve open letting
the fluid circulate through system). So I was wondering if anyone had done
this test before and can suggest a source for me.

Thanks,
/Khalid
